We call the parents of Gen Z students “helicopter” parents because they hover around their children, catering to their every need and serving as a protective gatekeeper.  Of course, parents want what is best for their kids and they want to be involved in decision making. They’re not exactly hanging out together outside of a Hot Topic, but parents of Gen Z students carry a ton of influence.
